Harry Potter Night at the Last Bookstore

Harry Potter Night at the Last Bookstore

Saturday night marked a milestone for my Harry Potter Improv team, The Show That Shall Not Be Named. We hosted an event at LA civic treasure, The Last Bookstore, featuring some wizard rock by Blackhaven, some homemade butterbeer, and a metric ton of LA wizards and witches. Between loading and unloading the car, distributing waters to the crowd, crowd-work, performing, ice and soda runs, and doing laps around the block, I don’t think I’d ever done anything so physically grueling in my life. All told, somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,000 people came by. Here are some artifacts from the event:

Running around the massive line.

A write up in Nerds Doing Stuff.

A tweet by the mayor’s office:

A feature in We Like LA and a feature in 89.3 KPCC for things to do on the weekend.

And finally, my dear improv team building a Dumbledore machine.

Have been reminiscing and icing my knees since. Did that really happen?
